Camping du Chateau is located in the heart of the Vosges at 595 km from Utrecht. The Vosges is the southernmost department of the Lorraine, but also the name of the 170 km long mountain range that borders the Rhine valley together with the Black Forest. This mountain range was created around 60 million years ago together with the Black Forest.

An extensive flora and fauna can be found in the wooded area. In addition to the deer, wild boar, roe deer, foxes, badgers and squirrels, there are around 150 bird species in this region.

When talking about the flora of the Vosges, the wild daffodil – known here as “Jonquilles’ not missing. These Jonquilles symbolize the region, as well as the blueberries: “Myrtilles’.

The Vosges also has a number of beautiful lakes, namely: Lac Blanc, Lac Noir, Lac des Truites, Gérardmer, Longemer and Returnster. Most water sports activities can be practiced. The Blanchemer is a unique remnant from the ice age. The beautiful waterfalls in the area are also worth a visit.
